Twitter has now Reached 20 Billion Tweets!

A few hours ago Twitter reached its 20 Billionth tweet……..

Let us repeat that – 20 BILLION!

To put this into perspective there are only 6 billion people on the planet. Obviously this is mainly due to the type of user who has thousands of Tweets, but it is still an incredible figure.

Massive Acceleration in Twitter Usage

To show the massive rise in acceleration of Twitter usage, the past 6 months have seen 10 billion (1/2) of the total tweets on the microblogging service to date. The service started in 2006.

These stats come from GigaTweet, and they show the rise of the social media platform. Twitter can be used as a great research and marketing for all types of businesses.

While GigaTweet’s count is declared unofficial by Twitter, the guys at Twitter itself indicated earlier this year that they’re seeing more than 50 million tweets per day.
